Moving Assets (Controlled Change)

When you move an asset

You do not edit the location manually.

You use Move Assets from the Actions menu.

Why?

Because moving an asset is a transaction, not a correction.

What happens during a move

A move transaction records:

• old location
• new location
• date
• user
• optional notes
• optional custom fields

This creates history.

What you say:

“We never overwrite reality — we record change.”

Important rule for demos

If you ever change an asset’s location by editing it instead of using a move:

• you destroy the audit trail
• you look unprofessional
